ad•vo•cate: a person who pleads for or in behalf of another
Since we have launched Orphan Hosting, we have learned that the most powerful voices for the children in our programs are YOURS! We have seen many of our children across all three of our programs matched with a host family who came from the work of volunteers. It is through YOU that we can make sure that every child who needs a family gets one.
If you aren’t looking to host but are looking for a way to directly impact the lives of the children who need it most, become an advocate and spread the word about Orphan Hosting!
You’re the ideal candidate if you:
- Love helping the orphans who might get left behind because they are older or have special needs
- Enjoy sharing information about children in need – especially via social media and online
- Can talk to your friends, families, and neighbors to reach as many people as possible about our program
- Want to be an ORPHAN WARRIOR!
If this sounds like you, fill out our interest form to the right and be sure to check “Host Program Advocate.” A Program Coordinator will get in touch with you to talk to you more about advocating. You can also contact email@example.com to get more information emailed directly to you!
If you have a hand to lend for these children and a desire to spread the word to change the life of just one child, we would love to call you a part of the CAN Host Family. It is long work, but it is work that is worth it to see these children find their family. You can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to start your volunteer application!
Want to Get Your Church Involved?
If you would like to have your church participate in Orphan Hosting, whether it’s through sponsoring a specific child or family through hosting, please contact our office at (512) 323-9595 ext. 3061. We’re also happy to speak with your church or group about Orphan Hosting.
How You Can Advocate
One Post a Week Changes One Life
We encourage advocates to post at least one item about hosting a week on their social media. This is especially important during matching, when we’ll have updates constantly about kiddos who are matched and kiddos who still need families. There are a couple of great posts you can share with families to get them knowledgeable about hosting.

Kids of the Week
During matching, which runs roughly from late August-early October for the winter program and mid-February-late April for the summer program, advocates will receive emails with our Featured Host Kid of the Week. These are typically children who need a little extra help finding a family, so we encourage our advocates to spread the news about these children as far and wide as possible!
